A Caymanian Wedding

January 13th, 2010

Jessica Cribb, a Cayman Islands native, and a staff member of the Department of Tourism got married on Grand Cayman at the George Town Christ of Church. Her reception was held at Restaurant Pappagallo, which is known for its soothing waters and serene atmosphere. This beautiful wedding, put together by talented Cayman Island vendors, will be remembered for its many special moments and laughs captured by dozens of precious and cherished photographs, that will be admired by many generations to come. Expert photographer Rebecca Davidson, initiated the brilliant idea of capturing the last minute nerves and marriage jitters just hours before the ceremony. Hours that usually vanish with the day will be forever remembered in the Cribb household as Rebecca Davidson incorporated various types of photographs, as each held a slightly different personality. One photo sets up a humorous scene where Jessica is bent over trying to fix her white stretch limo wearing her pearl white wedding dress, while her husband, Joshua Pawlik, lounges around drinking champagne. It is moments like these that are invented by true creatives and laughed about by many for years to come. Not only was Rebecca able to portray her own expert skills yet simultaneously she was able to calm the nerves of the bride-to-be.

The scenery itself, bounced from the pastel blues of the waters and swaying palm trees, to the cozy backyard feel of the white picket fences and deep green grasses. All the Cayman Islands vendors involved in the wedding planning, were able to accomplish two very different yet admirable effects. It is this type of serenity and lighthearted feel that allowed Jessica to enjoy the most important day of her life. “It was truly a magical day and there is nowhere else I could have dreamed of having it than in Cayman,” said the new Mrs. Pawlik.

Little Cayman Wedding

November 13th, 2009

This past Saturday, Shannon and Ben were married in Little Cayman. After an evening of celebration at Little Cayman Beach Resort, the two ended their stay with a good old dress trashing. David Wolfe was there to catch the moment. Hopping on a bicycle, the couple found the nearest dock and leapt into the blue water.

Yesterday, a band of pirates captured this unsuspecting Seattle bride at the Caribbean Club. Thankfully, the heroic groom was quick to whisk his bride to safety and vanquish his foes. David Wolfe took photos from a safe distance. Peace was restored and Seven Mile Beach was ready for another wedding.

It all started with an idea for a new kind of wedding dress. Ben de Lisi, one of the UK’s top fashion designers, set out to design a dress that was perfect for a bride on the go, a bride that wanted a destination wedding and needed her dress to withstand the test of travel and island heat, all while looking beautiful on her special day. Ben de Lisi, used the Cayman Islands as his muse, to create the perfect dress, for such an occasion. Out of this creative venture a partnership was born, between The Cayman Islands Department of Tourism, Ben de Lisi and You and Your Wedding Magazine.Together they launched a contest looking for the perfect couple, to win a full expense paid wedding in The Cayman Islands, along with the one of a kind dress by Ben de Lisi.

Many entered but only one could be the winner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vicki and Tony White won an all expense paid wedding in Grand Cayman, complete with honeymoon at the romantic Southern Cross Club in Little Cayman! The prize included airfare and accommodations for the wedding couple and their families and friends! The couple enjoyed a unique beach wedding at the Caribbean Club and catered meal on their private veranda overlooking Seven Mile Beach. The magical decor was created by Celebrations. Even the wedding dress, designed by Ben de Lisi specifically for this Cayman Islands wedding, was a gift to the bride!

The couple’s story in the words of the Bride..

“Tony & I have been together just over 3yrs, we met in work, in fact we used to sit next to each other for a while! We work for an insurance company and got put on the same team, our sitting next to each other coincided with us just recently splitting from our partners. We had our 1st date on April 1st 2006 and have been together ever since. Tony proposed on Valentines Day last year, it was a fantastic surprise. I had the most perfect night up to the proposal as we stayed at a new hotel in Liverpool called The Hard days Night Hotel, it’s a fabulous hotel based on the Beatles, and then we had a lovely romantic meal in great restaurant / bar called the Newz Bar. It was at the meal that Tony proposed with a Haribo jelly ring!! I couldn’t have wished for anything better.

In terms of the contest… it was a competition in You & Your Wedding Magazine. A friend of mine was planning her wedding at the time and told me about the competition as Tony & I had just got engaged. You had to send an email stating why you would love to get married on the Cayman Islands and win a Ben De Lisi designer wedding dress, so I sent an email similar to the comments made above along with a few pictures taken of Tony & I at our engagement party.A few months later I received a call informing us that we were one of 3 couples who had made the final in London. We went to London andmet Ben De Lisi, Ladies from the magazine/ DOT and Cayman Island Tourism….after having an informal chat with them, we went to a wedding show and all had lunch, it was after lunch that the panel made up there mind and informed us that we had won!!!!! It has been an amazing experience from start to finish.- Vicki White

The Knot
I am very excited to share this web project that was brought to life by the partnership between our long time friends at Engaging Concepts and their collaboration with TheKnot and The WeddingChannel for our long-time client: The Cayman Islands Department of Tourism.

Wanting to go far beyond standard web banner ads, this interactive sweepstakes/sitelet allows brides and grooms to select their ‘wedding style’ and view images from any one of the 3 very different Cayman Islands allowing visitors to get a sense of the variety of different and unique destination weddings available.

Hope you enjoy this as much as I did!

Cultural Cayman

July 15th, 2009

One of the most recent weddings, photographed by on-island photographer David Wolfe, was that of Nisha Kanade and Jake Ashley. Nisha and Jake, tied the knot in a three day ceremony set against the back drop of the beautiful Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort . I could not resist posting these beautiful image selects of the bride, for all to enjoy! Not only are the images gorgeous but they confirm that the talented on-island service providers, can bring to life, ceremonies of many different cultures and wedding styles. Enjoy a full photo gallery of this wedding by clicking on this link.

Engage 09 was a huge success! The party may be over, but the pictures are just getting started. For those who could not make it, feel free to get in on the action by viewing this beautiful photo gallery, assembled by attendee Donna von Bruening. Get a first look at the créme de le créme of the wedding industry, along with snapshots of the Ritz Carlton, which was completely transformed with the help of Celebration ltd.
